Rightly Dividing Bible Numbers
Bro. John Dillinger
Man, Sin, and the Division of Time
The number 6 is a number that is much easier to nail down. Almost every theologian agrees that the number 6 is the number for man.
A. Man was created on the 6th Day. Gen 1:26-31 (Q. Animals were created on the 6th day as well, so how is it specific to man? A. Man was made in the image of God.)
B. Rev 13:18 says that it is the number of man.
C. In the 6th book of the N.T. Romans 6:6 The 6th word is man! “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
D. Man is given 6 days to do his work, then rests on the 7th.
E. Jesus died in the 5th Millennium, Man’s
opportunity to accept him will end inthe 6th millennium. The 7th millennium is the
perfect age. The 8th is the new beginning!
F. The average height of man is six feet.
G. When a man dies he carried by six men to a grave that has been dug six feet deep!
REMEMBER, MOST SIGNICANT NUMBERS HAVE A DUAL MEANING AND A CORRELATING NUMBER.
We will deal with the subject of correlating numbers, more in this volume, than in the last.
First, we will notice the correlating number. Seeing that the number 6 is the number for man, it is a number for imperfection. If 7 is perfection or completion, then 6 falls short, and is thus imperfection, and incomplete.
Therefore 6 is a number that is associated with sin. (in fact, the 6th character in the bible is the serpent! The 6th time Job is mentioned, it is by Satan, who asks a 6 word question Job 1:9=3+6)
There are two numbers that are found quite often, correlating with the number six. The first, is the number 13, which is the number for rebellion. Then also, the number 18, which is the number for bondage.
Watch, in Rev 13:18 we see both the numbers 13 and 18. Thirteen is six plus seven. Which, is what man does with God, he rebels. Then, eighteen is three sixes (6+6+6) the number of the beast, which is Super Human( Man to the third power!) A trinity of 6’s. The #6 shows the super human number in 2Sam 21:20 The Giants had 6 fingers & 6 toes.
“And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.” Super Humans!
Look at Ezra 2:13 2=division 13=rebellion “The children of Adonikam, six hundred sixty and six.”
Notice what is associated with the number 666. Adonikim means “Lord of rebellion 666”
2Chron9:13 2=div. 9(3+6=666) 13=rebellion “Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;”
Solomon’s gold equaled 666 talents.
Which brings us to Solomon. Is he a picture of Christ? No, he is a picture of Anti-Christ. Now calm down, there may be a few instances where Solomon pictures Christ, I can’t think of any at the moment, but, he is a better picture of the anti Christ. The anti Christ will be the epitome of the perfect man. Almost Adam. In Song of Solomon, It is Solomon that is trying to steal the Shullamite bride away from the groom. Here, Solomon’s treasure is 666.
Consider Solomon’s throne; it had 6 lions on one side, 6 lions on the other side, and 6 steps in the middle. A total of 666. 1Kings 10:19-20
Solomon ended his life and reign in idolatry. And his offspring worshipped the devil, and divided the kingdom.
These are just a few instances where the numbers 13 and 18 correlate with 6.
Obviously the number 6 mainly deals with man, sin, and the man of sin. It also is a number that deals with the division of time.
2= division 4= double division creative division but 6= triple division (666) and is a division of time. 6 is divided (2) by 3. Likewise, time is divided by three, past, present, and future. Days are divided by three, seconds, minutes, and hours. Years are divided by three, days, weeks, months. Millenniums are divided by three, years, decades, and centuries.
A 24 hour day is divided into day (12 hours), and night (12 hours), and of course to divide the daytime would equal 6 hours and the same with night.
Now, the Lord was punished on the cross for our sins at about the 6th hour. Punished by God not man, and in this division of day he made it night. A half (2) of a year is 6 months.
You see 3 yrs 6 months all through the bible as a division of time.
So we see that there is more to the number 6, than what meets the eye of the modern day theologians. It deals with the division of time, but it is obvious that the number 6, is the number of the imperfection of fallen man.
Perfection and Completion
The number seven, like many other numbers, has a dual meaning.
First, the number seven stands for perfection. The seventh time Noah is mentioned in the Bible, is in Genesis 6:9 “These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”
There are seven dispensations of time, as well as seven days in a week. All perfectly orchestrated by God.
Secondly, the number seven stands for completion. The Lord uttered seven sayings on the cross, the last of which was “it is finished”
Revelation 10:7 “But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished,”
Revelation 16:17 “And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.”
(Perfection and completion go hand in hand, but consider this; You can be complete without being perfect, but you can’t be perfect without being complete.)
Naaman was commanded to wash seven times in the Jordan, representing the complete and perfect cleansing of sin.
Noah took seven of every clean beast with him onto the ark. Do you realize that there are some preachers that don’t even know that! Yeah, he took two (division) of the unclean beasts, and seven of every clean beast. The extra beasts were because Noah would make a sacrifice unto the Lord, which demonstrates his complete devotion to his perfect Lord.
The word “created” is mentioned seven times in Genesis 1-2
The creation was finished in sevens. God created the world in six days and rested the seventh. This brings us to the correlating number for seven.
*Seven is the number for perfection or completion, then it would make sense that the number fifteen correlates with it, since fifteen is the number for rest. (see volume three)
1. God rested (15) on the seventh day.
2. 7 is found in the bible 735 times. 7+3+5=15 735 is divisible by seven 105 times. The one and the five is clearly seen. 105 is divisible by seven 15 times!
3. Leviticus 23:15 “seven sabbaths shall be complete:”
4. Genesis 6:9 (6+9=15) 7th time Noah mentioned
There are many sevens that are not mentioned here, because they are a little more obvious. Sevens are all through the book of Revelation. I wanted to look at a few of the less obvious sevens that prove that seven is the number for completion and perfection, and that it correlates with the number 15.
Seven things that will help you know Him.
1. Hear the Word. Rom 10:17
2. Keep the Word. Psalm 119:2
3. Study the Word. 2 Tim 2:15
4. Pray for understanding of the Word. 1 Cor.2:10-13
5. Rightly Divide the Word. 2 Tim. 2:15
6. Memorize the Word. Psalm 199:11-16
7. Count the Word. Rev 13:18

The number eight is without controversy, even in this study. God made it very clear what the number eight speaks of, whether you are dealing with physical things or spiritual things.
Eight is the number for a new beginning, or the new creation.
When the Lord decided to flood the earth, because of the wickedness of man, he spared eight souls. It is of note, that God did not elect only eight souls, Noah preached for a hundred and twenty years that the mercy of God would spare them if they would get on the ark, but rather only eight souls chose to obey the Word of the Lord!
These eight souls became the new beginning of the earth.
David was the eighth son of Jesse. He was definitely a new beginning for Israel, who had chosen Saul as their king over the Lord.
A week has seven days in it, the eighth day is the beginning of the new week.
The musical scale has seven notes on it: a, b, c, d, e, f, and g. The eighth note is the beginning of a new octave (eight).
Circumcision, which is a picture of the new creation, is performed on the eighth day. Gen.17:12 “And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you,”
Circumcision though, is definitely an act of division. It seems that God has so embedded the number two with division, that all multiples of the number two, have something to do with division also. We have seen this so far with the numbers four, the division of the earth, and six, the division of time.
It seems that the number eight deals with the division of the soul. When God spared Noah’s family, their was a definite division made; The people inside the Ark, from the people outside the Ark. 1Peter 3:20 states the fact that “eight souls were saved”
Now, we know that the circumcision of the heart is also a dividing matter. Look at Colossions chapter two (division) “In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:”
Spiritual circumcision is the “putting off” of the flesh, which is an “operation of God”. It is the point where the Holy Spirit divides your soul, and your spirit, away from your flesh. After this, now when you sin in the flesh, it does not affect your soul, because they are no longer connected! This is the difference in our position and our practice. In our position with God, we are sinless. In our practice though, we sin. The difference though is that the sin does not affect a saved man’s soul, because of the separation of the soul and the flesh. Your soul is covered with the blood, and sealed by the Holy Spirit. WHOO, that will PREACH!!!
Fruit or Covenants
The number Nine, is the number that deals with fruit. If eight is the number for new beginnings or a new creation (and it is!), it only makes since that nine stands for fruit. In the number eight, we see a new creation. A new tree planted, a new tree’s purpose is to bring forth fruit. If it doesn’t produce fruit, it is to be cut down and burned according to the Lord.
Galatians 5:22 begins to list the nine fruit of the Spirit. (5+2+2=9!)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
The Holy Spirit’s purpose is to produce fruit in our lives. In order for that to happen we must be walking in the Spirit(Gal5:16).
The farmer that yields the most fruit, is the one who is the most attentive to his fields. The one who does not bother to dung it, or to dress it, or to spray the weeds, won’t produce very much fruit, even though he put the same seed in the ground that the other farmer put in. Listen, just because you have a King James Bible (incorruptible seed) doesn’t mean that you will automatically be fruitful, the Mormons use King James Bibles exclusively!
In 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, there are nine gifts of the Spirit, that are mentioned.
“For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:”
We should also consider, that the Lord Jesus gave up the Ghost, and commended his Spirit to the Father, at about the ninth hour. Here, his Spirit is connected with both, the fruit of his suffering, and also the number nine.
It is evident then that the number nine deals with the fruit of the Spirit.
It seems that the number nine also has a connection with covenants. In Gen 9:9, God makes his covenant with Noah. In Gen 17:1 (1+7+1=9) God makes his covenant with Abraham when he is ninety and nine!
The Law or Gentiles
Now we have come to the last number in this volume of study, the number Ten. And just like all of the other numbers, the number Ten has a plurality of meanings. There are three basic groups of people in this world; Jews, Gentiles, and the Church of God. 1Cor.10:32 I have been able to locate a number for two of the three, so far. The Jew is identified by the number twelve. I have not been able to identify the Church of God, so if any of you brethren can help, it would be appreciated. The Gentile whoever, is identified by the number TEN.
1. The tenth man from Adam was Noah. Noah is known as the father of the Gentiles, the way Abraham is known as the father of the Jews.
2. The first Gentile kingdom is found in Genesis chapter ten. (The kingdom of Japheth)
3. The last Gentile kingdom is going to have ten kings and ten countries. Daniel 2 & Revelation 17
4. In John ten we are told about the sheep of another fold, which the Lord has.
5. In Acts ten the door to the Gentiles is opened.
Secondarily, it is also very clear that the number ten also deals with the Law.
1. The Law was first given in the form of the TEN Commandments
2. The Passover lamb was to be taken on the tenth day of the month.
3. The tithe (tenth) is commanded and is said to be holy unto the Lord. Lev. 27:30-32
Ten is clearly a number that not only deals with gentiles, but with every man’s responsibilities to God.
It is worthy of saying that we are no longer under the law. When you look at the tabernacle in the Old Testament, which is a place where the Law was prominent, the number ten is very prominent. The boards were ten cubits long, there were ten curtains over the top, and there were ten pillars on the west side of the court. It is good to know, that my Lord, entered into that Holy place, having fulfilled the Law, and offered himself as a PERFECT SACRIFICE, for my sin and yours.
Our good works should be a testimony of the Grace of God in our lives, not our hope for grace. Remember this, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
The most important thing to know how to count on…is HIM!
